Real Metro Vancouver project

Replacing a failed underground water service.

A large buried service problem at an occupied multi-unit property required careful investigation, a controlled excavation plan, and clear coordination from access through verification.

The assignment

Protect the building. Replace the failed service. Keep every step accountable.

Underground failures create uncertainty because the important conditions are hidden. The work must connect the evidence to a sensible access plan, protect residents and the property, and leave the new service ready for dependable operation.

This project account is intentionally generalized. It shows the real work and process without publishing the customer’s address or other identifying details.

01 / DEFINE

Confirm the problem before opening the site.

The visible symptoms and buried route informed where access was needed. The team considered utilities, equipment access, excavation limits, water control, and the occupied building before work moved forward.

02 / ACCESS

Create a workable route with the property still in use.

A long service route called for coordinated excavation and material handling around the building. The sequence kept the repair area organized while the crew prepared a stable path for the replacement.

03 / INSTALL

Build the replacement as a complete system.

The new service was installed on a prepared base with restrained connections and a planned route. Installation quality depends on the pipe, joints, bedding, protection, testing, and backfill working together.

What good project work delivers

A defined repair, visible progress, and a verifiable result.

  • A targeted plan tied to observed conditions
  • Coordinated access for an occupied property
  • A complete replacement path, not a symptom-only repair
  • Testing and closeout before the work is considered complete

Every site is different. Access, permits, utilities, soil, depth, restoration, and building operations can change the scope.
